I started Conduit Press in the winter of 2009 after bringing a wee little man into this world. Inspired by the Bloomington artists that surrounded me, I carved a niche for myself among friends and never looked back. Now, nearly four years later I’ve expanded my work to include two dynamic lines of work: leather and book art. In my leather work you will find leather journals in a variety of styles and sizes, refillable leather notebooks for the on-the-go guy or gal, as well as leather clutches, bags, and wallets. My book art is categorized mostly by the use of reclaimed/discarded books that are transformed into holders of things special. I make books into holders for flasks, wedding bands, Love notes and more! Books have also been made into clocks and lamps.
I find myself traveling at least monthly to sell my work at local/regional art and craft shows around the midwest. Twice a year I take part in the trade show market; getting my work out into the world with a little more reach. Most recently I’ve also begun a new journey into opening a brick and mortar; though we’re starting slow by opening a pop-up in the winter of 2013. It is called Gathering and I’d absolutely Love for you to visit.
I’ll freely admit that I spend my days wrangling a quite charming and adorable three and a half year old- we paint, we stamp, we plant, we play hide and seek and read an awful lot. I tend to spend my nights toiling away under refurbished factory lights, surrounded by a crazy amount of (dis)organization, creating what I Love.
From Pizza Express phone girl to Kinko’s copy girl; I’ve certainly come a long way. Once I was a teacher too! I wear many hats, and I’m sure I’ll wear many more, but for now I’m this: mother, wife, book artist.
